South Petherton Walking Group

Saturday 6th February 2010

Chinese Fish and Chip Walk - Merriott Arts and Crafts Fayre Meet 10.00am.

Start and Finish at Prigg Lane 'Long Stay' Car Park. Prigg Lane is opposite South Petherton Library.

Walking from South Petherton to Merriott it is about 4,5 miles ending at Chish and Fips for a delightful Chinese or Fish and Chip Lunch about 12.noon. After having ate one's fill, we will then move on to the Merriott Arts and Crafts Fayre at the Tithe Barn. The walk can be completed in just over two hours, at a leisurely pace allow three hours+ including 'lunch time'.

This is a mixture of road walking and field footpaths through open farmland. There are a minimum of stiles and gates. Sections can be quite muddy or flooded after heavy rainfall. Swimming or bridge diving is permitted, but not recommended.

The return journey will be by Stagecoach, services leave Merriott for South Petherton every two hours, pick up points are Chish and Fips or All Saints Merriott, times 1.26pm or 3,26pm. Boots always advisable, wellies if the previous days have been wet.

Local Development Framework

A number of people have asked about how to find out more about the Local Development Framework.

The target completion date for the Local Development Framework is 2011 and SSDC have started an evidence gathering process and to see more about this you can go to the SSDC website and looking under Planning Policy for 'Documents Supporting the LDF'
