South Petherton Local History Group

The group meets throughout the winter and spring with visiting speakers offering a varied menu for those with a taste for history. In addition to meetings we hold a Christmas dinner and organise a coach outing in June. We are affiliated to the Somerset Archaeological and Natural History Society, and in October 2007 we hosted the annual conference for Somerset’s affiliated local groups.

Annual membership costs £5. Visitors are welcome, £2 on the door. Meetings are held at the Methodist Church Hall in South Petherton on the fourth Wednesday of the month starting at 7.30pm.

The Local History Group has two publications which are on sale in the Post Office and N&D News: “South Petherton in the Twentieth Century - A Village Album” and “Explore South Petherton’s Past”.
